The Concept
WaraYana means “The star that comes from far away” in a native language of Bolivia.
Bolivia is the source and inspiration of this project. Inspired by the country’s culture and trends, we want to offer you unique high-quality products through a completely ethical supply process.
The Project
“Renaming luxury through social commitment.”
WaraYana is a brand that was born with the vision of creating a change in the consumption habits of today’s fashion, WaraYana seeks to encourage our customers to buy clothes of the highest quality, made by artisans who are fairly remunerated.
WaraYana takes pride in being a socially responsible project that avoids large-scale intermediaries by implementing a fair-trade structure between artisans and the customer.
WaraYana commits to contribute to the livelihoods of many low-income Bolivian families, bringing together projects involving different local communities and companies.
Our partners and suppliers support local workshops which use ancestral knowledge and techniques, and at the same time, prepares our artisans to handle the highest quality materials and machinery, creating networks of self-managed groups that produce directly for the brands around the world.
We work with materials that do not harm the animals and their ecosystem; all our fabrics are eco-friendly and sustainable.
Nowadays, WaraYana also has a local European workforce to be closer and be able to provide an even more customized and tailored service to our customers.
Our workshops and manufacture teams are strategically located in La Paz – Bolivia (South America) and Barcelona – Spain (Europe).
The Materials
We want to be a reference to quality and luxury in the fashion industry.
WaraYana, along with the projects from local indigenous communities, works with fibres like Alpaca, Baby Alpaca, Alpaca Suri, Baby Suri, Vicuña and now we have also added Cashmere. All of these fibres are considered as some of the most luxurious in the fashion industry.
The producers of these fibres develop sustainable and responsible farming. The camelids from which the fibres are sourced are native of the Andean region, in particular Bolivia’s and Peru southern area. Their management represents an income for many families who coexist with these animals and share the same flora and fauna.
This is why WaraYana is dedicated to creating winter collections using exclusive Andean materials such as Alpaca and Vicuña.
This year WaraYana with a deep focus on sustainability, decided to lunch its new collection incorporating sheep and cashmere wool for its tailored adult collection, and Peruvian Pima cotton for its children and babies collection.
